ValleyNet - Fortitude Valley Community Network

Posted: 29-1-2004
Category: Community Building,

Fortitude Valley is known as a vibrant and dynamic suburb with a diverse ethnic population. ValleyNet was initiated by a network of Fortitude Valley community groups in early 2001 to connect the organisations and inhabitants of the Valley.

The website has a colourful dynamic splash page at its entrance, giving links to other useful sites for the Fortitude Valley community.

Once inside the website, a user has a host of different ways to connect and communicate with other people in Fortitude Valley, including the interactive Infocast news board with its own calendar, the e-Library where important documents can be stored, both a normal Discussion Forum and Real-Time Chat, and the Address Book of registered Intranet members.

Organisations can advertise their job vacancies on the interactive job board, and can create pages, including images and attachments, about their own organisations using the Page Builder facility on the 'Groups in the Valley' page.

Valley Net also features a permanent link to the Infoxchange Service Seeker website for Queensland. And for those who are curious, there are static pages of information about Fortitude Valley and the construction of the website.

Key Components:
  • Infocast;
  • e-Library;
  • Discussion Forum;
  • Real-Time Chat;
  • Page Builder;
  • Employment Board database;
  • Site Registration;
  • Static pages for information.
