Parenting Exchange seeks to to foster social networks among new mothers in the Peachey Belt area, thus improving the quality and extent of their social networks, and to improve access to information technology for those normally excluded from its benefits due to social and economic disadvantage.
The Parenting Exchange website features a multi-level structure, with some areas accessible to the general public, and other areas accessible only by password to registered Intranet members. The public area contains an interactive news board and collection of links, and a subset of the Infoxchange Service Seeker providing information about services in the Playford area.
The members only area contains an address book of registered members, a Discussion Forum and Chat, and an eLibrary of useful information for mothers. It also contains an eLibrary restricted to staff use only.
The self-explanatory structure of the website, and its distinctive colour scheme of yellow, orange and purple, make this a popular site among mothers and family service workers.
